A guide to style and good tailoring

Hi welcome to my own unique perspective on what constitutes style and individualism. The vast majority of the photos are taken using a mobile phone camera and I have no make up on.......

I'm in my late 30's and I'm also a widow which probably explains why I look so god damn hot in black, well that and being an ivory skinned pale red head! It also documents my wardrobe, so many people seem fascinated by my clothes and compliment me for how I look wearing them.

It is one woman's campaign against Jeans, Tracksuits and Ugg Boots!

More importantly it's about altering your view on life and trying to do the right thing even though it isn't always the easiest.

This blog is a story in taking pride in yourself and not letting yourself go, or settling for second best because you know what girls? No one really is better than someone if they don't treat you like a Queen................

Dragons and Fairy Gothmothers

This isn't my usual style of corset, it is a bit softer and less 'extreme' I was really attracted to the print which had gold and red dragons on it. In the perfect world there would have been an emerald green dragon print corset but it was not to be :(

See though like a true mancunican I am carrying the sunshine in my smile!

If you are wondering about why any woman in her right mind lets a man "shoot" up at her when it is so unflattering..............then it is because I am too polite to say to a member of HMF, it is a lens not a scope! They just go into "fire" mode. Still I can get away with it. ;) Photo courtesy of the Royal Marine Commandos.

Red and Green should never be seen .......

They say red and green should never be seen........(except when worn by an Irish Queen). Well I can only claim association by marriage. Emerald green is an amazing colour for my tones, I enjoy wearing it.

I had fun trying on corsets at Fairy Gothmother, the heavens had just burst even by Mancunian standards, it was proper rain so at little more wind and rain swept than usual!

Little Mermaid

This dress is a stunner - I adore it, I love the sea foam blue and the rouching around the top. It was originally a wedding dress, but I bought it for a ball, it is covered in dainty crystals and sparkles beautifully as you dance around the floor.

My friends say I look like Ariel from The Little Mermaid, in this ball gown, I feel like a princess wearing it, and it makes my eye colour really "pop"

Jessica Rabbit

I bought this for a Help For Heroes Fund Raiser, my friends set me the challenge of looking like Jessica Rabbit. The top isn't a true corset so I can't cinch it down like my others but it is a truly beautiful dress.

I love wearing ball gowns and beautiful dresses made from natural materials, this is raw silk which feels amazing against the skin, the train is a work of art. The roses are amazing, fortunately it is also detachable.

All I need now is a Prince Charming to take me to the ball!

No really I wear the best costumes

An evening to remember, it started off at rollerskating. I was quite happily trying on my new things when my friends son woke up with his two friends. The final picture captured my face, as they uttered the immortal words...."I told you Vintage vixen had the best costumes".

As they were put to bed, I found myself looking at my best mate saying "Sorry chick, I can't help but wonder if I have just ruined them for the next generation or if they will be talking to a therapist". It was made all the funnier for the reply "He already tried to get you in his magic hand cuffs"........ kids are great and it is all so innocent

Definitely no cartwheels!

I think this outfit is super fun, I got this for the Diamond Jubilee, needless to say I was banned from cartwheels! Though in fairness who wouldn't come and save this damsel in distress.

The corset goes a lot tighter but I had to self cinch for this photo. It is a classic straight in from work to parcels and trying on shot.

Corsets are a girls best friend

It is fair to say a decent corset is a must for every girls wardrobe, they really are your best friend. Don't skimp on them you really do get what you pay for. I love the held tight feeling that you get from a corset. They are great to wear out and it's not just with skirts girls, corsets look great teamed with tailored shorts too.
