A guide to style and good tailoring

Hi welcome to my own unique perspective on what constitutes style and individualism. The vast majority of the photos are taken using a mobile phone camera and I have no make up on.......

I'm in my late 30's and I'm also a widow which probably explains why I look so god damn hot in black, well that and being an ivory skinned pale red head! It also documents my wardrobe, so many people seem fascinated by my clothes and compliment me for how I look wearing them.

It is one woman's campaign against Jeans, Tracksuits and Ugg Boots!

More importantly it's about altering your view on life and trying to do the right thing even though it isn't always the easiest.

This blog is a story in taking pride in yourself and not letting yourself go, or settling for second best because you know what girls? No one really is better than someone if they don't treat you like a Queen................

The best Tom Boy in disguise dress ever!

The 1940s day dress is a gold medalist in my book, an Olympic hero in the styling super stakes. Really just like the RAF in the Battle of Britain they punch well above their weight. This is for me the personification of the Tom Boy dress. It lulls people in the false sense of "girly feminity". Snigger.

My sister put it in my mind with her comment yesterday, it made me think back to being little. I used to take things to pieces and tie electronics to my bike to pretend to make it go faster LOL Climbing trees, playingout and making dens in the wood. I even had star wars figures and PJs. You never leave your inner Tom Boy behind, you just get better at covering it up as you get older.

From the shoulders to the sweetheart neckline highlighting your collar bone and bust, to the nipped in waist, the gentle wrap skirt with a gentle rolling frill; really what more could you ask for from a dress? I know, a decent slit so you can run and climb!

They thought of everything back then. Look good, sprint, hurdle and climb trees whilst maintaining your dignity! Really when it comes to looking good whilst doing an obstacle course this design is unrivaled.

I have this dress in several prints, this particular one is called forget me not. Forget me nots are one of my favourite flowers, I love the lilacy ultraviolet blue. I also like the story behind how they got there name.

Beautiful, elegant, feminine

Fantastic flattering neckline and skirt

See GENIUS! You can hurdle
let alone sprint in this number.

Climbing, not a problem, and
dignity is maintained at all times

It is the ultimate Tom Boy disguise :) Which probably explains why I like this dress so much.

Time to chill with my fans

After yesterday's excitement and a record day on page views I thought it would be nice to say Thank You to everyone who reads my blog.

THANK YOU :) x

I am glad you enjoy it, after all it is about having fun and enjoying clothes and expressing yourself!

Tongue in cheek and continuing my quirky style I thought that today called for my "Fan Print" 1940s style tea dance dress. Hehe

I love this dress though it is one of those "bra challenge" specials, fortunately we have advanced bra technology too! I love the plunging wrap neckline because I think it shows off my decollete, this is replicated at the back too, this is a bonus for me because I think I have a nice back and my long hair is a natural cover up.

The black waist band and the flare of the skirt make this very feminine and it moves beautifully. I'm not much of a tea drinker in fact tea is poison, so the tea part is always a struggle but I love to dance. Just to be different why don't you pull up a pew, sit down. I'll put the kettle on we can have a brew and you can tell me all about it.

Later today I am going to see one of my biggest fans; stand back because we will be doing science. I bought Marv's little boy a Chemistry set for Christmas and tonight we get to play. WOO HOO! Don't worry I am qualified, I am a Master of Science still it reminds me of the line from Force 10 from Navarone, which totally fits with the 1940s theme!

Miller: Don't worry, old chap. Been handling this stuff ever since I blew up the nursery with my first chemistry set. Poor old Nanny.

It's Capri Pant Friday :)

It's Friday that means Capri Pants :) I just think they are really good fun. Polka dots aren't the easiest to capture but I think this makes a smart classic look for a Friday. The Polka dot top is a halter neck so it easily takes you into the evening.

Green with envy, girls you know you want to be a red head too

Green is a go to colour for me and it is just so festive. I know that all you blondes and brunettes go the colour of my dress with envy, because no one owns green like a red head.

Plus what could be more festive, the pale ivory skin like white snow, the berry red hair and the evergreen with my dress!

This dress is a staple in my wardrobe. I like the style, the larger collar is flattering to my shoulders and the sleeve length is just perfect. It is made from a wool blend so it's perfect for Autumn and Winter. You really can't go wrong with this sexy sassy little number.

Capri pants are the retro girl's jeans!

It is weird but I have never felt compelled to wear or own jeans, I don't know why I just don't feel comfortable in them. Capri pants are my jeans :)

I really do love them, and they are versatile, feminine flattering and comfortable. They show off your shape in ways jeans only dream of!

I think they look really cute teamed with a simple 50s style jumper. I really like this fit of jumper, I think it clings to your curves in all the right places. It is very flattering on the shoulders, works wonders for the bust and nips you in nicely at the waist! Really girls what more could you want?

Forever Autumn and the Thunderchild

I've been listening "The War of the Worlds", maybe it is the impending alleged end of the world. I always think it is like the sunscreen song, what is the point worrying? The stuff you should be worrying about you never see coming.

Anyway I love the song Forever Autumn which is followed by The Thunderchild. I am hard pushed to choose a favourite season as they all have so much to offer, but when it comes to colours I think red heads were made for Autumn.

I love the print on this dress and the matching little bolero jacket is just super cute. The colours are beautiful, the camera doesn't really pick up on the flecks of bronze and gold in the print. The dress is a sarong style halterneck wrap. This is one of my go to outfits for autumn, and it always makes me smile :)

Universal constants of Friday

There are several universal constant of a Friday - the first is listening to Friday I'm in Love by The Cure on the way to work, the second is having a crunchie and the 3rd and most important is......It's Capri Pant Day!!!! YAY

Here I am rocking my Stop Staring 3/4 length Capri Pants with my Tara Starlet Cosy Cape. I love this cape, it is so cute and has an air of super hero. I am Batfink with wings of steel or is it Florence Nightingale. Anyway I am pretty convinced we would all be happier if we wore capes. The downside is skinny legs and a triangle.....I look like the stick people kids draw! LOL
